Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha)

Wat Pho is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok, located just a short walk from the Grand Palace. It is most famous for its massive Reclining Buddha statue, which measures 46 meters long and is covered in gold leaf. The soles of the Buddha’s feet are beautifully inlaid with mother-of-pearl designs, showcasing ancient Thai craftsmanship.

Wat Pho is also known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage, and it still operates as a massage school today. The temple complex features over 1,000 Buddha images, peaceful gardens, colorful chedis (stupas), and intricately decorated halls.

A visit to Wat Pho offers a calm and spiritual atmosphere, rich in Thai culture and history — perfect for both first-time visitors and returning travelers seeking a deeper connection with Bangkok’s heritage.
