Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, is one of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The temple is best known for its stunning riverside location, towering central spire (prang), and intricate porcelain mosaics that shimmer in the sunlight.
Visitors can climb partway up the central prang for panoramic views of the river and Bangkok skyline. Wat Arun is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, with the temple glowing golden as it reflects the light.
It’s also located just across the river from Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, making it a perfect stop during a day temple tour in Bangkok.
